Spring is arriving, and Winston-Salem has a full calendar of events to enjoy throughout March. From sports and live theater to concerts and unique seasonal experiences, here are some highlights you won’t want to miss.
Wake Forest basketball fans can catch the Demon Deacons in their final ACC home games at LJVM Coliseum on March 1 and March 8. Sports fans can also enjoy Carolina Thunderbirds hockey with home games against the Columbus River Dragons on March 7-8 and March 21-22 at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Arena.
Theater lovers have several performances to look forward to this month. The North Carolina Black Repertory Company presents August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Fences at Hanesbrands Theatre from March 1-16. The Winston-Salem Theatre Alliance will showcase The Game’s Afoot, a comedic whodunit, from March 14-23, while the Little Theatre of Winston-Salem presents Unnecessary Farce from March 28-30 and April 3-6.
For literary and mystery enthusiasts, Murder & Margaritas with Sandra Brown on March 5 at Reynolds Place Theatre offers an evening with the bestselling author, including a discussion of her latest novel. On March 7, the Murder Mystery Fundraiser at Robert Hall provides an interactive evening of sleuthing in support of the Winston-Salem Police Foundation.
Art and culture events include Family Art Activities at the NC Museum of Art on March 8, where visitors can explore hands-on projects inspired by current exhibitions. Reynolda House Museum of American Art will also host Drinks @ Dusk on March 28, featuring cocktails, live music, and the opportunity to view the Andrew Wyeth exhibit.
Those looking for outdoor and seasonal experiences can celebrate spring at Spring Festivité at Junius Lindsay Vineyard on March 15, an event featuring French-style wines, curated food pairings, and live jazz. On March 22, Family Cherry Blossom Tea at Reynolda Gardens invites guests to enjoy tea, treats, and creative activities under the garden’s cherry blossoms.
Live music events this month include NCMA Crossroads Concert: Caroline Rose on March 15 and the NCMA Lakeside Concert Series on March 29, featuring an atmospheric performance by Spencer Zahn and Dawn Richard. The UNCSA Jazz Festival on March 29 will showcase a full day of jazz performances at the Millennium Center.
