Sell Your Winston-Salem Home Quickly By Making It Market Ready!

Have you been thinking it may be time to sell your home and purchase a new one? Contrary to what many presumed, the ongoing pandemic has not slowed the prices of single-family homes in North Carolina. In fact, these unprecedented times have only exacerbated the seller’s market effect. With the boom in sales and the current low inventory, prices have been on the rise. If you are considering putting your house on the market, this may be the perfect time!

We have rounded up some tips to get your home sale on the fast track!

  1. Have a friend or your real estate agent take a tour of your home. Realtors are trained to view a property with a buyer’s eyes and can help you determine any areas for improvement.
  2. Schedule a full home inspection and fix any problems – from plumbing down to pest control.
  3. Steam-clean your carpets to remove dirt and debris deep in the fibers. If your carpet is too damaged or torn, consider replacing it.
  4. Add a fresh coat of paint. If you decide to repaint a room, make sure to pick neutral colors that can appeal to a wide range of homebuyers.
  5. Kitchens can often make or break a deal. If you cannot replace dated appliances and cabinets, there are other inexpensive ways to give it a fresh look, such as swapping out hardware and countertops. New backsplashes can also modernize the look of your kitchen.
  6. Replace heavy, old lighting fixtures and change out cabinet pulls, hinges, faucets, or windows.
  7. Leave countertops, bookshelves, tabletops, or any surfaces clear of any clutter. Remember that buyers are easily distracted and overwhelmed.
  8. Remove all personal artworks and pictures, as you want your potential buyers to visualize themselves living in the space and not be looking at the homeowner’s family photos. There is no harm in leaving neutral wall art up, though.
  9. Deep clean! Ideally, you will want to hire a professional team to deep clean every nook and cranny of your home. If your house is not too big, you can always do it yourself. Just make sure your home is squeaky clean prior to showings.

In addition to the interior of your home, take some time to spruce up the outside, too. Mow the lawn, clean the gutters, plant some flowers, and keep walkways and driveway clear. Making a good first impression is paramount! When in doubt, hiring a home stager can be a great investment. Your real estate agent likely has several home stagers that they work with and can provide you with the name of someone they trust, but I am certainly happy to recommend someone as well.
