Winston-Salem ranked no. 46 out of 150 cities according to U.S. News & World Report on 2021-2022 Best Places to Live. To make the top of the list, a place had to have good value, be a desirable place to live, have a strong job market, and a high quality of life.
The report says that Winston-Salem has an international feel while maintaining its traditionally Southern friendliness. The metro area also celebrates its diversity during an array of festivals and through a variety of cuisines, ranging from traditional North Carolina barbecues to Indian curries and Greek pastries.
Though Winston-Salem has not seen a population boom at the same rate as Charlotte and Raleigh, it has become a fertile land for entrepreneurs and small businesses due to heavy interest in residential and corporate development.
Other North Carolina cities featured among the top 50 were Raleigh-Durham at no. 2, Charlotte at no. 20, and Asheville at no. 48. Following is the full list of N.C. cities to make an appearance in the U.S. News & World report.
